Why a Coverage Foundation Is the Prerequisite for Mass AI Automation

Everyone building AI for finance is focused on the agent. Far fewer are asking what the agent actually runs on. That is the prerequisite that most teams skip — and it is the reason most automation projects stall after the pilot.

An AI agent can draft a comp table, monitor a portfolio, flag what moved overnight, prepare a first-cut committee note. It can do all of those things — but only if it is running on data that is complete, structured, and verified across the full universe of companies and assets it needs to cover. Partial coverage produces partial automation. And partial automation produces more work for the human who has to fill the gap, not less.

In mining and natural resources, that foundation did not exist. The data sat in thousands of PDFs, across eight languages, reported under different regulatory regimes, with inconsistent unit conventions and no reconciliation layer. An agent running on that raw corpus would produce outputs no analyst could stake a decision on.

So we built the foundation first. Today the platform covers 4,261+ companies, 13,850 mining assets monitored daily, and 1.73M+ publications ingested across 16 stock exchange integrations. 34 commodities tracked daily. Multilingual processing including Cyrillic and Mandarin.

Breadth is doing real work here. Automation that only works across the 200 biggest producers is a demo. Mass automation in mining finance requires coverage of the full spectrum — juniors, mid-tiers, developers, explorers, assets in pre-feasibility, assets in construction, assets in care and maintenance. The comparison an IC wants to run is never limited to the names that make it into a Bloomberg terminal.

The model was never the bottleneck. The structured, validated, real-time data foundation is. That is what we have spent two years building. The agents were always the easy part — once the foundation was in place.
